Pune: Yerwada Central Jail, Pune has commenced a skilled training program for its imprisons through Bank of Maharashtra MRSETI (Mahabank Rural Self Employment Training Institute), in an event held at the Yerwada Central Jail. Under the guidance of Shri Atulchandra Kulkarni, Additional Director General of Police (Prison), skilled training program for around 100 inmates is organized with a focus towards their rehabilitation and social inclusion. Shri A B Vijayakumar, Executive Director, Bank of Maharashtra was the Chief Guest and Shri Atulchandra Kulkarni was the Guest of Honour for the program. Shri Yogesh Desai, Deputy Inspector General of Police, (Prison); Shri Vivek Dhawan, Zonal Manager, Bank of Maharashtra Pune East Zone; Ms. Rani Bhosale, Superintendent of Yerwada Central prison and officials from Bank of Maharashtra, MRSETI, Pune were also present in the program.
While addressing the inauguration program Shri Atulchandra Kulkarni, Additional Director General of Police, (prison) Maharashtra State said ‘Bank of Maharashtra has taken a big leap by reaching out to organize this training program for the inmates instead of making them to reach them. The programs are devised in a simple yet effective manner to enable the inmates with livelihood once free from prison.’ Shri Atulchandra Kulkarni further said the inmates shall be given with training Certificates from MRSETI and Bank of Maharashtra shall facilitate them with suitable credit facility.
Speaking on the event Shri A B Vijayakumar, Executive Director, Bank of Maharashtra said, as we are celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav for inclusive growth, this becomes a great opportunity for the Jail inmates to learn and develop themselves as this in turn shall make them stand with pride on their feet when they will be out from prison. Shri Vijayakumar highlighted how PM SVANidhi scheme is turning out to be game changer for small vendors and asserted that upon completion of this training program the inmates and their family members may avail various credit facilities from the Bank. He further stated that we will take up such model training programs throughout all the districts of Maharashtra through the 7 MRSETIs.
The training program has been conducted by MRSETI for around 100 inmates in three specific categories viz. Poultry Training, Home appliance repair & service; Mobile Repair, Papad, Pickle & Masala making specially for women inmates etc. for ten days each. The imprisons selected for the said training program are scheduled to be freed in near future.
