Mumbai: WRWWO organised an awareness campaign on ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ to encourage girl child. Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (WRWWO) continues to step forward to encourage women and provide help to railwaymen & their families. Through its multitudinous welfare activities, WRWWO pursues to work relentlessly and has dedicated itself to benefit railway families. In continuation to this, under the aegis of Smt. Tanuja Kansal – President of WRWWO, an awareness campaign was recently organized for the noble cause of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, taking inspiration from the campaign of Govt. of India which aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls in India. On the occasion, 8 employees having single girl child above 10 years of age were felicitated.

According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, under the awareness campaign & to appreciate them, 8 Group D railway employees having single girl child above 10 yrs were felicitated by Smt. Tanuja Kansal – President of WRWWO. Along with this, a poster making competition was also held for railway employees and their family members on the theme of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’. The competition received 71 artistic entries and winners for both categories were selected and awarded with cash awards. At the felicitation ceremony, Smt. Kansal gave an awe-inspiring speech, stressing on better education facilities and protection of girl child in the society. She emphasized on the fact that women are creating a niche in the society for themselves in today’s male dominated society. Smt. Kansal elucidated that we need to make our girl child financially independent for their bright future to achieve their goals and ambitions. She concluded her enthralling speech in a poetic way with, “Beti ke jeevan ka tum karo samman, Ishwar ka hai yeh vardaan, Beti ka jeevan bhi ho bete samaan.”

Shri Thakur added that at the felicitation ceremony, a skit “Humari Beti, Humari Shaan” was performed alongwith musical performances of songs like “Mere ghar aayi ek nanhi pari”, “Komal hai kamzor nahi” and “Bekhauff”. Smt. Kansal interacted with awardees and staff present on the occasion. It is worthwhile to mention that WRWWO has done several such commendable welfare works and has served the diverse & innumerable welfare requirements of Western Railway staff.
