Shri Shyam Sunder Gupta has taken over as the Principal Chief Operations Manager, Central Railway today i.e September 5, 2023. He succeeds Shri Mukul Jain, who superannuated on August 31, 2023.
Shri Shyam Sunder Gupta, a 1992 batch officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service, has extensive experience in various aspects of Railway operations having worked on Western Railway, South Central Railway, South East Central Railway and Central Railway in various capacities including Chief Freight Transportation Manager, Central Railway, Chief Passenger Transportation Manager, Central & Western Railway, Chief Commercial Manager (Freight Marketing, Central Railway, Chief Transportation Planning Manager, Central Railway, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway.
He has also worked as Chief Transportation Manager (Petroleum), Western Railway, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, South Eastern Railway, Kolkatta. In his distinguished career, he has also worked as Divisional Railway Manager of Raipur Division of South East Central Railway.
In his illustrious career, Shri Shyam Sunder Gupta has attended various seminars and training programmes including the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD Singapore & ICLIF, Malaysia.
Shri Shyam Sunder Gupta, having an in-depth understanding of Logistics and Transportation systems in India has been awarded the prestigious Railway Minister Award in the year 2001, the General Manager’s Award in 2010 and was a gold medallist & Best Participant in the 32nd Advance Management programme given by National Academy of Indian Railways, Vadodara.
Prior to assuming his current role as Principal Chief Operations Manager for Central Railway, Mr Shyam Sunder Gupta served as Chief Administrative Officer (Systems) for Northern Railway.
