MUMBAI: Mumbai is the first city who hits the mark of 100% digital buses. The city of Mumbai is the first in the country to get 100% digital buses with a “Tap in and Tap out” facility.
From CSMT to NCPA, The first bus, which will run has been tested, and the trials for the same got completed on Monday.
A facility for smartcards and a mobile app (Chalo) is also included in the bus. A commuter just boards the bus, and needs to place his mobile or smartcard in front of the digital machine which is affixed near the entrance, And a green tick allows him to board the bus. At the time of exit, the commuter taps out and the bus fare is deducted from his App on the mobile or from the smartcard.
A small Sensor machine will detect the starting and end journey of the respective commuter, which will enable commuters to carry out cashless payments.
The cashless system of paying bus fares will be easier and it will help to save papers and the environment.
Thus there will be no need for any conductor in the bus and this will put an end to unnecessary quarrels between the commuter and conductor for loose change, and for other petty issues.
These buses will have a digital signboard mentioned on them it will be the first for office-going people and gradually more buses will be introduced for all commuters. said best manager Lokesh chandra.
