Over 19,000 passengers have enjoyed rides on these open deck double deckers from Gateway of India to Marine Drive and back via Chowpatty over the past five months. BEST earned revenue of Rs 29 lakh from these tours so far.

The BEST has decided to add three more open deck double deckers for Heritage Tours.

The latest statistics released by BEST on Wednesday showed that in November, when the service was launched, the two buses attracted 2,408 tourists. This was followed by 4,446 tourists in December, 3962 in January, 4738 in February and 3573 in March (till March 20), said BEST spokesperson Manoj Varade.

Due to demand from tourists and huge rush of 500 to 1000 passengers during the weekend lately, the BEST decided to add three more open deck double deckers for Heritage Tours. The price for a ride on upper deck is Rs 150 per person.

“In Mumbai: Heritage buses now operate till midnight on public demand .In fact, a travel agency has come forward to team up with BEST to provide foreign tourists who can enjoy the evening rides on these buses. It’s also helped earn Rs 29 lakh revenue in the past few months,” added BEST general manager Lokesh Chandra.
