Milestone achievement by Central Railway – Passenger trains started running at 130 kmph between Pune – Daund

Mumbai: One of the greatest milestone achieved by the Central Railway. On Monday August 28, passenger trains started running at maximum permissible speed of 130 kmph between Pune – Daund section. Train No. 18520 Lomanya Tilak Terminus- Vishakhapattnam express becomes the first train to run at maximum permissible speed of 130 kmph. Train started from Pune at 10.42 hrs and passed Daund at 11.43 hrs. Thus train saved running times of 5 minutes in total running distance of 76 kms between Pune- Daund. Tomorrow 2 more trains No. 22944 Indore- Daund Express and Train No. 11301 Mumbai – Bengluru Udyan express have been planned for running at 130 kmph. Thus all 22 pairs of trains having LHB rakes will be gradually speeded up to 130kmph between Pune- Daund. Earlier all trains used to run at the speed of 110 kmph in this section.

Technical works like track preparation, OHE regulation and signalling works completed to make this section fit to run at 130 kmph. Now all rolling stock and locomotives fit to run at 130 kmph will run in this section with maximum permissible speed of 130 kmph will run in this section and save running time. Speed of this section is increased by paying due attention to all essential safety aspects.

Earlier, Chief Safety Commissioner /Central Circle Shri Manoj Arora, General Manager of Central Railway Shri Naresh Lalwani, Divisional Railway Manager of Pune Division Smt. Indu Dubey along with a team of officials conducted a technical inspection of this section

and suggested improvements. Pune division addressed bottlenecks and ran first train with maximum permissible speed of 130 kmph today.

This will decrease the running time of passenger trains and improve overall punctuality of trains.
