Mumbai: a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, officers of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have successfully apprehended the mastermind of an international drug trafficking syndicate, a Nigerian national, in New Delhi.
This operation follows a sequence of actions by the DRI, which commenced with the seizure of 500 grams of Cocaine on June 28, 2023, at a courier terminal. This operation led to the arrest of two individuals in a well-planned controlled delivery operation in the Nalasopara area of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Subsequent to the interrogation of the arrested individuals and thorough forensic analysis of digital devices, the DRI officers identified the mastermind behind the drug syndicate, who was operating from New Delhi.
Over the course of several months, with relentless efforts and surveillance, DRI officers successfully pinpointed the exact location of the accused. In a meticulously executed operation, the DRI team apprehended the mastermind in the Uttam Nagar area of New Delhi. Following his arrest, he was transported to Mumbai on a transit remand and presented before the court on September 16, 2023. The accused is now in DRI custody for further investigation.
