Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor calls for evolving Integrated System of Healthcare. Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari today called for evolving an Integrated System of all Healthcare Systems including Modern Medicine, Ayurveda, Homeopathy and other traditional systems to provide better healthcare to the people across the world.
The Governor was presiding over the signing and exchange ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) and the University of Notre Dame Australia in Mumbai.
Minister of International Education from Western Australia David Templeman, Vice Chancellor of MUHS Lt. Gen. Madhuri Kanitkar (Retd.), Pro Vice Chancellor of University of Notre Dame Australia Prof Selma Alliex, Pro Vice Chancellor of MUHS Dr Milind Nikumbh and invitees were present.
The Governor said even though the world is progressing in different walks of life, there was no peace and harmony. Recalling that two world wars were waged in the West and the third war is in progress, Governor Koshyari said India, on the other hand has given the world Buddha, Mahavira and other messengers of peace.
The Governor called for sharing of knowledge, expertise and academic exchanges by universities in Maharashtra and Western Australia. He said joining of hands in academic development will help to create a better future for humanity.
Addressing the gathering, Western Australia’s Minister for International Education David Templeman said the global pandemic of COVID-19 and ageing population were posing challenges to many countries of the world. He said Australia needs high skilled workforce that is responsive to change. He expressed the hope that the memorandum of understanding between the MUHS and Notre Dame Australia Univeristy will open up more opportunities for joint studies.
The Governor released the publication ‘Aarogya Kosh’, an encyclopedia of Healthcare and Medicine containing biographies of medical practitioners from Maharashtra on the occasion. The Arogya Kosh has been brought out by the weekly Vivek as part of its Platinum Jubilee series on the Makers of Modern Maharashtra.
Memorandums of Understanding were also exchanged between the MUHS and Microsoft Corporation and MUHS and the National Institute of Design Ahmedabad on the occasion.
