Mumbai : Governor Koshyari attends Beating Retreat The Ceremony on Navy Day. Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari attended the ‘Beating Retreat’ and Tattoo Ceremony organised by the Western Naval Command of Indian Navy at Gateway of India in Mumbai on the occasion of Navy Day on Sunday (4 Dec).
Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Naval Command, Smt Charu Singh, serving and retired officers of Indian Navy and invitees from various walks of life were present.
The event included breath-taking performances by the naval band, a short operational demonstration, the Beating Retreat Ceremony, a fly-past by naval helicopters, continuity drill by naval personnel and the Sailor’s Dance by children of the Sea Cadet Corps. The delightful Dance by the young cadets of the Sea Cadet Corps received thunderous applause from the audience.
Later in the evening, the Governor attended the At Home reception hosted by the Flag Officer Commanding in Chief at the Navy House.
Navy Day is observed on 4th December every year to commemorate the Navy’s stunning attack on Karachi that contributed crucially to India’s victory in the Indo-Pak war of 1971.
