Mumbai: Governor Koshyari applauds Agricultural Universities for making India Atma Nirbhar in foodgrains. Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari complimented and applauds agricultural universities and agricultural scientists for making India Atma Nirbhar in the production of foodgrains. He appealed to agricultural scientists to redouble their efforts to make India a Jagat Guru and the granary of the world.
Governor Koshyari who is also the Chancellor of State universities was addressing agricultural graduates at the 24th Convocation of the Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani through online mode.
The Governor said there was a time when India had to import substandard foodgrains from other countries. He said India will never forget the contribution of its agricultural universities and scientists who made the nation self-sufficient in food grains through their dedicated works. Recalling the strides made by the nation through Green, White and Blue revolutions, he sought the cooperation of agro scientists in making India a Jagat Guru. The Governor inaugurated the newly built Golden Jubilee Convocation Hall of the University on the occasion.
Minister of Agriculture Dadaji Bhuse, Vice Chancellor of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur Dr Narendra Singh Rathore, Vice Chancellor of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth Dr Ashok Dhawan, vice chancellors of other agricultural universities, deans, faculty and graduating students were present.
Degrees, PG degrees and Ph.Ds were awarded to 4232 candidates on the occasion. Gold Medals and Cash prizes were also presented to meritorious students.
