Mumbai: Breaking: EV charging stations will now be powered by sun and left over food scraps! The first organic waste-powered EV charging station has been inaugurated in Mumbai yesterday., The new fast charging station, situated near the popular Haji Ali circle in Mumbai, will have the capacity to process 2,000 kg of wet waste per day according to multiple media reports.

Wet waste like fruit and vegetable peels from big hotels and malls (offices) and put them to use by this all new ev charging stations. It will also help in powering street lights, this energy plant will charge electric vehicles too.

Ankit Zaveri, the CEO of Aero Care Clean Energy, which, along with the BMC, Dept of Biotechnology, Govt of India, and GPS Renewable, launched an electric vehicle (EV) charging station on Monday said that this is a fast charging station, which can charge any car in just 45 minutes”.

Zaveri claimed this biogas-powered station is ideally located at haji ali, “as this is a high-density traffic road. We are witnessing that a lot of people buying EVs now.” He said more EVs on the road means a need for more charging stations. Its really innovative and breaking that such High accessibility of EV charging stations would encourage people to buy more EVs, he added.

State Minister Aditya Thackeray was quoted as saying: “This is the first EV charging station in the country that will provide electricity generated by waste to energy. We are also planning to start such charging stations preferably on highways. It will not only encourage people to use electric vehicles but will also properly manage organic and biological waste.” City of Mumbai generates 6000 metric tonnes of waste daily and 70% of the waste is wet waste.

We are working to build public awareness regarding such facility which is environment friendly, and this will eventually lead to less amount of pollution and also make the environment greener! He added.
