Mumbai: BMC Commissioner makes presentation on Mithi River work before Governor. Municipal Commissioner I S Chahal made an elaborate presentation on the ‘Mithi River Development, Pollution Control and Rejuvenation’ before State Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Thursday (17th Feb).

 

Mentioning about the devastation caused by the flooding of the Mithi river in 2005, the Commissioner apprised the Governor of the work of regular desilting of the river before monsoon, widening and deepening of the Mithi river and construction of the Retaining Wall undertaken by the BMC as per directions of the Mithi River Development and Protection Authority.

 

The Commissioner told the Governor that the Conveyance Capacity of the river had increased 3 times compared to 2005. He also informed the Governor of the efforts being made for controlling the pollution and for improving the quality of water of the river.

 

Additional Municipal Commissioner P Velrasu was also present.
