Mumbai: AC local train fare to be lowered by 50 percent in Mumbai. On friday the union minister Raosaheb Danve announced that fare of air conditioned (AC) local train running In Mumbai would be depreciated by 50 percent for the commuters.
The announcement of reduction of fares of the air-conditioned local train was said by the Minister of state for Railways at the inauguration ceremony of newly restored byculla Railway station in the presence of the Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis.
Lakhs of passengers travel through the sub-urban and urban line daily in lifeline of Mumbai that is the precious local train of Mumbai.
M.R Danve said that the the existing minimum fare of Rs 65 for a distance of 5 km will be reduced to Rs 30.
The minister also was saying that it was long-pening demand of the daily commuters to the reduce the fare of the air-conditioned local train in Mumbai as they were receiving suggestion to implement this immediately by lowering the fare to at least 20 to 30 percent.
The minister of the state and Railway M.R Danve did not exactly specify when will the revision in fares come into force.
On both the central and western Railway around 80 percent air-conditioned local train are operated on daily basis.
