Mumbai: KVIC celebrated 74th Republic Day with patriotic fervor. Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) on 26 January, 2023 celebrated the 74th Republic Day with patriotic fervor. Chairman, KVIC Shri Manoj Kumar unfurled the national flag in a flag-hoisting ceremony organized at KVIC, H.Q. Mumbai, in the august presence of Shri Vinit Kumar, CEO, KVIC; Dr. Sanghamitra, CVO, KVIC; Dr. Shireesh Kedare, Member (KVIC) and other senior officials of KVIC.
On the occasion, Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman, KVIC while wishing republic day highlighted the importance of the India’s Constitution. In his address he opined that the Khadi and Village Industries Commission is associated with the poorest of the poor of the society through its schemes and indeginious products and plays a crucial role in generating employment opportunities for youth, artisans, spinners and weavers at their steps..
In his address KVIC Chairman reiterated that ‘Khadi’ is also called the cloth of freedom, which was used as an indigenous weapon to organize the citizens of the country during the freedom movement. This heritage fabric ‘Khadi’ is source of income for lakhs of people by providing them employment with dignity , he added.
He appeal to the nation to fulfill the vision of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dream “Vocal for Local and Local to Global” in reality .In his address he also motivated the officers and employees of KVIC to fulfill the responsibility of the upliftment of the poor people living in the rural, hilly and border areas of the country with full devotion and honesty.
The speech was followed by the National Anthem.
On this momentous occasion Chairman, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) also launched a film marking rebirth of Khadi on the Republic day, which is designed by New India for New India, making Khadi relevant for today’s audience
The programme concluded after the cultural and patriotic program performed at KVIC Headquarters premises.
