Lucknow, March 21 (IANS) A 60-year-old driver from Punjab was found murdered inside a truck at the SGPGI police station area in Lucknow.
The man, identified as Harpinder of Faridkot, had brought goods to his company’s warehouse in the area.
A forensic team and senior officials inspected the scene but failed to get any leads.
The police said Harpinder accompanied another truck driver Onkar Singh of Rampur district, when they both left Ghaziabad district from where they had loaded the goods.
Both, Onkar and Harpinder, reached the company’s warehouse at Bijnor road under the PGI police station area on March 15, but they had to park the truck on the roadside as the warehouse had no space to accommodate the trucks.
On March 16, another truck carrying the company’s goods reached the warehouse and its driver Arvind also parked the vehicle on the roadside.
On March 19, Harpinder called two youths to work as conductors in the truck.
The complainant driver, Onkar said: “Arvind and I went to sleep in our trucks while Harpinder was with the unknown youths.”
Onkar said he got a call from the truck owner and was told that the truck driven by Harpinder was parked at Mati Park and he was asked to go to check.
“I peeped inside the driver’s cabin and found Harpinder lying in a pool of blood. The suspect youths who were accompanying Harpinder the previous night were missing. The body was lying on a seat at the back of the driver’s seat,” he said.
ADCP East Zone, Syed Ali Abbas said that miscreants attacked the victim with some sharp-edged weapon which is yet to be traced.
“The body had been sent for autopsy and further investigation is underway.”
