Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Maharashtra on January 15 for two landmark events that underscore India’s strides in defense manufacturing and its commitment to cultural heritage.
At 10:30 AM, Modi will commission three cutting-edge naval assets—INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vaghsheer—at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. This historic event highlights India’s growing maritime strength and defense capabilities.
INS Surat, the fourth ship under the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer Project, is one of the largest and most advanced destroyers in the world, boasting 75% indigenous components. Equipped with state-of-the-art weapon systems and network-centric technology, it is a testament to India’s naval engineering expertise.
INS Nilgiri, the inaugural ship of the P17A Stealth Frigate Project, features advanced design elements for enhanced survivability, stealth, and operational efficiency. Conceived by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau, it represents a new era of indigenous frigate production.
INS Vaghsheer, the sixth submarine of the P75 Scorpene Project, has been developed in collaboration with France’s Naval Group. Its induction signifies India’s growing competence in submarine construction and reflects progress in underwater warfare capabilities.
Later in the day, at 3:30 PM, Modi will inaugurate the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple, an ISKCON project in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. The nine-acre complex, built to promote universal brotherhood and peace through Vedic teachings, features a temple with multiple deities, a Vedic education center, and proposed museums, auditoriums, and a healing center. This initiative aligns with the government’s focus on preserving and promoting cultural heritage.
The Prime Minister’s visit symbolizes India’s dual focus on bolstering its defense prowess and celebrating its rich cultural traditions, marking another milestone in the nation’s progress.
