In a significant pre-election move, the Maharashtra government, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has introduced the ‘Laadla Bhai Yojna’. This new initiative, unveiled in Pandarpur on Tuesday, aims to provide financial support to male students who have completed their 12th grade. Under this scheme, these students will receive Rs 6,000 monthly.
Additionally, the scheme offers Rs 8,000 monthly to diploma holders and Rs 10,000 to graduates, under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana. The primary goal of this program is to address the manpower needs of various industries while simultaneously providing employment opportunities.
Previously, the Maharashtra government launched the ‘Ladli Behna’ scheme, which provides Rs 1,500 monthly to economically disadvantaged women aged 21 to 60. Finance Minister Ajit Pawar allocated Rs 46,000 crore for this initiative.
These announcements come in the wake of a disappointing performance by the ruling Mahayuti in the Lok Sabha elections, where they secured only 17 out of 48 seats.
In related developments, Ajit Pawar also announced relief measures for farmers, including waiving electricity bills for irrigation pumps. Soybean and cotton farmers facing lower-than-expected prices will receive compensation of Rs 5,000 per hectare, up to two hectares. This response aims to address the discontent among farmers, who have faced various challenges, including delays in lifting the onion export ban, which significantly impacted their earnings.
In the latest budget, the government has also pledged free education for female students, aiming to enhance female literacy and empowerment across the state.
