Laurene Powell Jobs, the wife of the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, has embraced Sanatan Dharma and adopted the name Kamala. She is currently in India to attend the Maha Kumbh 2025, which begins on January 13 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

On her way to the Maha Kumbh, Kamala offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. Accompanied by Swami Kailashanand Giri Maharaj of Niranjani Akhara, she adhered to the temple’s traditions, wearing a pink suit and a white “dupatta” on her head. Kamala offered her prayers from outside the sanctum sanctorum, as per the temple’s tradition that only Hindus can touch the Shivling.

Swami Kailashanand Giri Maharaj mentioned that they prayed for the successful completion of the Maha Kumbh without any obstacles. He also noted that their disciple, Maharshi Vyasanand from America, would become a Mahamandaleshwar in his Akhara.

Kamala will stay at the Kumbh and plans to take a dip in the Ganga. The Maha Kumbh, a grand mela held once every 12 years, will conclude on February 26 in Prayagraj.

In an effort to attract global tourists, the Union Ministry of Tourism plans to offer a toll-free Tourist Infoline (1800111363 or 1363) in 10 international languages, in addition to English and Hindi, to provide help, information, and guidance for international visitors at the mega event.
