India Celebrates 135th Birth Anniversary of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Parliament House Lawns

The 135th birth anniversary of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of India’s Constitution and a revered social reformer, will be commemorated at the Prerna Sthal within the Parliament House Lawns, New Delhi, on April 14, 2025. Organized by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the event pays homage to one of India’s most transformative leaders.

The tribute ceremony is set to begin in the morning with floral offerings by distinguished leaders, including the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, various ministers, parliamentarians, and invitees such as scholars, students, and members of the general public. Following this, the event will open its doors to the public until noon, allowing visitors to pay their respects to the visionary leader in a setting filled with reverence and admiration.

To facilitate broader participation, the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation has arranged special bus services to transport visitors to the Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial (DANM), located at 26 Alipur Road, New Delhi. Known as Mahaparinirvan Bhoomi, the memorial stands as a testament to Babasaheb Ambedkar’s immense contributions to social justice, equality, and empowerment.

The Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, established in 1992 as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, was founded to propagate the principles and ideologies of Babasaheb Ambedkar on a national scale. Since its inception, the foundation has championed various programs and initiatives that bring his vision to life, fostering an inclusive and equitable society.

The Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial serves as a beacon of inspiration, showcasing the life and legacy of Babasaheb Ambedkar. The museum houses an extensive collection of personal artifacts, photographs, letters, and documents that chronicle his journey from a student and historian to a jurist and a revolutionary reformer. Visitors can engage with audio-visual exhibits that bring his speeches and interviews to life, offering a profound glimpse into the mind and heart of one of India’s greatest thinkers.
