DPIIT Partners with HCLSoftware to Strengthen India’s Startup Manufacturing Ecosystem

In a move aimed at revolutionizing India’s manufacturing startup sector, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has entered a strategic partnership with HCLSoftware. Announced on October 23, 2024, at Vanijya Bhawan in New Delhi, the collaboration will leverage HCLSoftware’s technology expertise to support startups under the Startup India initiative. This effort is a part of DPIIT’s Manufacturing Incubation Initiative, which seeks to position India as a national production hub and a global leader in manufacturing.

DPIIT has already signed over 80 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with industry stakeholders, underlining its commitment to enhancing India’s manufacturing ecosystem. Through this partnership, Indian startups will gain access to HCLSoftware’s SYNC program, which will provide global market exposure, showcasing Indian innovation to international audiences. This initiative is expected to propel the production of high-quality, globally competitive products by enabling startups to utilize advanced manufacturing tools, technologies, and expertise.

Key figures from DPIIT and HCLSoftware emphasized the partnership’s importance in creating a sustainable ecosystem that nurtures intellectual property and strengthens India’s manufacturing value chain. DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv Singh highlighted how the partnership aligns with DPIIT’s vision to foster innovation and global competitiveness among Indian startups. He also reiterated DPIIT’s dedication to furthering the “Make in India” initiative, enabling startups and innovators to thrive in a robust manufacturing environment.

Dr. Sumeet K. Jarangal, Director of Startup India, stated that the primary goal is to bolster India’s manufacturing capabilities by empowering startups with digital technologies and global market access. Kalyan Kumar, Chief Product Officer of HCLSoftware, called the collaboration a pivotal step for India’s manufacturing sector. HCLSoftware will support startups from design to marketing, thus facilitating growth and strengthening India’s vision of becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse.
