The Indian government has launched the third edition of its Digital Life Certificate Campaign (DLC Campaign 3.0) aimed at simplifying the process for pensioners to submit their life certificates digitally. This initiative, led by the Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare (DoPPW), will run throughout November 2024, offering pensioners nationwide an easy and secure way to submit their certificates without visiting physical offices.
A significant upgrade from previous campaigns, the DLC Campaign 3.0 is designed to enhance the digital empowerment of pensioners, especially senior citizens, who may face challenges with traditional methods. The new campaign will be conducted in collaboration with the Department of Posts, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), UIDAI, and pension disbursing banks across India. Pensioners can now submit their life certificates at over 157 locations across the country, particularly through District Post Offices.
One of the key features of this campaign is the use of Face Authentication via smartphones, a technology that makes the process more accessible. This step aims to simplify the submission process by allowing pensioners to authenticate themselves remotely, avoiding the need for physical visits to government offices or pension disbursing banks.
Additionally, recognizing the mobility challenges of older pensioners, the government has introduced a door-to-door service. This feature will enable doorstep collection of life certificates from pensioners who are bedridden or unable to visit the post office.
To ensure awareness and widespread participation, the campaign will be promoted through banners, social media, SMS, and short video clips. The collaboration with UIDAI and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) will further streamline the campaign’s technological aspects, providing full technical support during the drive.
In the previous campaigns, over 1.45 crore pensioners successfully submitted their digital life certificates, showcasing the positive impact and the growing adoption of digital solutions for pensioners. The government’s goal for DLC Campaign 3.0 is to simplify processes, boost digital literacy, and provide enhanced convenience to pensioners, aligning with the broader vision of digital inclusion and government transparency
