Bank of Maharashtra reaches out to Self-Help Groups at Solapur, plans to lend extensively to SHGs

Pune: Mr. A.B. Vijayakumar, Executive Director of Bank of Maharashtra (BoM), a premier public sector bank in the country, has stated that BoM is going to extend credit facilities to self-help groups (SHGs) extensively while addressing an event at Kalman, Solapur. He was on a two days visit to Solapur Zone.

Mr. Vijayakumar opined that the loans extended to the Self Help Groups normally do not turn bad. The SHGsalso ensure the financial self-reliance of its women members enhancing their self-confidence leading to social prosperity. Hence, the Bank of Maharashtra shall firmly support theSelf Help Groups in their endeavor to make their members self-reliant.

Mr. Vijayakumar further stated that the Prime Minister has declared to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of our independence in a grand manner which gives us an opportunity to cater our services to the last mile to make our customers self-sufficient. He was speaking as a Chief Guest in a function organized byBank of Maharashtra at Kalman, wherein loans were facilitated to about 53 Self Help Groups. Bank through this event also extended credit facility to Agricultural and Retail customers.

SunitaBhosale, Zonal Manager &Shri Hemant Mahajan, Deputy Zonal Manager of Solapur Zone; Sarpanch Shri Pandurang Tambe and Deputy Sarpanch Shri Sunil Patil of Kalman Village were present at the event along with SHG members. Smt. MeenakshiMadial on behalf of Maharashtra State Rural Livelihood mission shared her great experience and long association with the Bank.

Mr. Vijayakumar also visited Mega PMAY Housing Township (RAY Federation) for the Economically Weaker Section at Kumbhari village (Largest in Asia)and met Mr. AnirudhaPanti, Project Manager to know the work progress. The Executive Director of the Bank interacted with all the workers of the project and discussed various Govt. facilities available for benefit of migrating workers. He expressed that the Bank of Maharashtra is associated with RAY Federation in a big way and is keen to finance EWS dwellings.

Mr. Vijayakumar, Executive Director, Bank of Maharashtra during his visit to Solapur Zone attended various other programs viz. Outreach Program for MSME and Retail loan customers, Inauguration of Special Gold Loan Point counter at the Twin Solapur Branch for seamless delivery of Gold Loan. He also deliberated on various aspects ofPM SVANidhi scheme having QR code digital banking facility.
