On the occasion of World Health Day, celebrated annually on April 7, the Indian government emphasized the importance of adopting healthy habits to improve overall well-being. This year’s theme, “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” underscores the significance of small lifestyle changes for a brighter tomorrow.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shared a message on social media platform X, urging citizens to commit to healthier practices. “This #WorldHealthDay, let’s commit to small healthy habits for a brighter, stronger future,” the ministry stated. Accompanying the post was a video highlighting key recommendations for better health.
The ministry advised incorporating more fruits and vegetables into daily diets, engaging in physical activities such as walking, running, dancing, or stretching for at least 30 minutes a day, and prioritizing quality sleep to recharge both body and mind. Additionally, the ministry encouraged increased water intake to maintain hydration and energy levels while emphasizing the importance of mental health care through regular breaks.
“On this World Health Day, let’s promise to take care of our health every single day,” the ministry urged.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also marked the occasion with a call to action for healthier lifestyles. In a video message shared on X, he highlighted the growing obesity crisis in India, warning that by 2050, over 44 crore Indians could be affected. “This is scary. How big a crisis can this be?” he remarked, urging immediate preventive measures.
The Prime Minister proposed a simple yet impactful change: reducing cooking oil consumption by 10 percent. “This will be a big step towards reducing obesity,” he said. He further stressed the importance of regular exercise, stating, “If we keep ourselves fit, then it will be a big contribution to the journey of a Viksit Bharat.”
PM Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to healthcare and well-being, emphasizing that good health is the foundation of a thriving society. “On World Health Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to building a healthier world. Our government will keep focusing on healthcare and invest in different aspects of people’s well-being,” he posted on X.
The messages from the government and the Prime Minister serve as a reminder of the critical role of individual and collective efforts in fostering a healthier nation.
