Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Tuesday that India would be happy to host the next AI Action Summit, building on the momentum of the current summit. In his concluding address, PM Modi emphasized the unity in vision and purpose among stakeholders.

“I welcome the decision to set up the AI Foundation and the Council for Sustainable AI,” he noted, extending congratulations to France and President Emmanuel Macron for these initiatives and assuring India’s full support.

PM Modi suggested making the “Global Partnership for AI” truly global by including the priorities, concerns, and needs of the Global South. Earlier in the day, he highlighted that India is developing AI applications for the public good and possesses one of the world’s largest AI talent pools. He emphasized India’s readiness to share its expertise to ensure that the “AI future is for Good, and for All.”

India is also building its own large language model (LLM), considering its diversity. “We have a unique public-private partnership model for pooling resources like computing power, made available to our start-ups and researchers at an affordable cost,” PM Modi informed.

He further stressed the importance of addressing biases in AI, building quality data sets free from biases, democratizing technology, creating people-centric applications, and addressing concerns related to cybersecurity, disinformation, and deepfakes.

AI is developing at an unprecedented scale and speed, with rapid adoption and deployment. PM Modi concluded that there is a deep interdependence across borders, necessitating international cooperation for effective and useful technology rooted in local ecosystems.
