The General Manager in the presence of Smt. Shobhna Lalwani President CRWWO, inaugurated the following equipment in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology of the Hospital – a Fully Automatic Tissue Processor for Histopathology by INTELSINT worth Rs. 30 Lakhs, a Fully Automatic Rotary Microtome for Histopathology worth Rs. 26 Lakhs and Fully Stainless Steel Blood Collection Trolleys worth nearly Rs. 40,000. He also inaugurated the state of art 3D Imaging Centre of the Department of Dental, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. It is equipped with a 3-Dimensional Cone Beam CT Scan Machine (more popularly called a 3D CBCT Scan ) by leading Digital Dental Solution provider Dentsply Sirona costing Rs. One Crore. This 3D CBCT Scan has been jointly funded by Indian Railways as well as by CSR support of Rs. 46 Lakhs from the Indian Railway Finance Corporation. With it’s successful commissioning, there has been a quantum jump in the ability of Dr.BAMH to offer digital solutions to a patient’s dental problems in a “Single Visit” as 3D CBCT enables the Dental Surgeon to take immediate in-house treatment decisions. Dr.BAMH is the only hospital of Indian Railways with this facility and only one of 20 odd facilities in Mumbai. Shri Lalwani was appreciative of the presence of two Part Time Dental Surgeons and a Dental Hygienist in the Department to fully utilise the 5 numbers of Dental Chairs and was apprised of the need to deploy the services of an in-house CBCT Scan Technician at the earliest.
