‘Sustainability Awards’ presented by Maharashtra Governor on Vivekananda Jayanti
Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari inaugurated the ‘Mumbai Sustainability Summit’ organized by the Vivekananda Youth Connect Foundation on the occasion of Vivekananda Jayanti in Mumbai on Thursday (12 Jan). The Governor presented the ‘Mumbai Sustainability Awards’ to various persons for their contribution to sustainable future.
Speaking on the occasion the Governor sought the involvement of the youth in ensuring sustainable development and future. Stating that mere economic or physical development doesn’t lead to sustainable development, the Governor added that progress made on the strong foundations of values of life will make development sustainable. Mentioning that Swami Vivekananda awakened the youths of the nation and instilled in them the pride of India’s glorious culture, he urged the youth to read the life and work of Swami Vivekanand.
The Governor presented the ‘Mumbai Sustainability Lifetime Achievement Award’ to the Founder of Priyadarshini Academy Nanik Rupani. Jain Acharya Lokesh, ‘BEST’ General Manager Lokesh Chandra, Sadguru Yogiraj Mangeshda, Swayam Rehabilitation Trust’s Neeta Deolalkar, Principal of Wilson College Anna Pratima Nikalje, Sowmya Suryanarayanan, Shantilal Gulechchha, Rishi Agarwal, Vaishnav Shetty and others were presented the ‘Mumbai Sustainability Awards’ by the Governor.
Minister of Education Deepak Kesarkar, MLA Ashish Shelar, Jain Acharya Lokesh, Founder of the Vivekananda Youth Connect Foundation Dr Rajesh Sarvadhnya , Gopal Arya, Rajshekhar Joshi and others were present. Swami Chidanand Saraswati addressed the session through a video message.
