Mumbai: KVIC celebrates 75th year of Independence with big fervour. Organises“Tiranga Yatra” in Mumbai. Since its inception, Khadi and Village Industries Commission is working tirelessly to uplift and empower the most unprivileged section of the society by extending financial independence through employment.

 

 As India celebrates the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” on the 75th year of Independence, the message of simplicity remains the most powerful expression of Khadi. Khadi and Village Industries Commission, has embarked on the journey with an eternal spirit to bring change in the society with this symbol of the Indian freedom struggle.   On the occasion of 75th year of Independence Chairman KVIC Shri Manoj Kumar unfurled the National flag in the premises of KVIC. In his key note address Shri Manoj Kumar said, Amrit Mahotsav will strengthen the spirit of patriotism by uniting the countrymen in one thread.  Gandhiji believed that nation will be strong only when the villages are made strong, let us resolve to fulfill Gandhiji’s dream with our tireless efforts, he added.  Speaking on the occasion, he said that this is the first time that so much effort has been made by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of the country to promote Khadi through national and international forums. He mentioned about the efforts of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s radio program “Mann Ki Baat” and other efforts.

Khadi and Village Industries Commission will strengthen Khadi and Village Industries sector by focussing on economic development. KVIC will focus on this over the years. KVIC is a multi-faceted organization where various schemes are being implemented for the upliftment of all sections along with the person standing in the last row of the society.

He further said, on clarion call of Hon’ble Prime Minister the nation is celebrating “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”. Mahatma Gandhi’s statement that India’s future resides in its villages, reflects the contribution of the sound social and economic system of our villages in the nation building.  Khadi and Village Industries have played an important role not only in the freedom movement but also in the seventy five years of independence of the country.

Hon’ble Prime Minister says; when we buy a Khadi product, we touch the lives of lakhs of spinners and weavers who work day and night to make this Khadi. It is the commitment of the present government, under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister to rural India and its effect that the acceptance of Khadi products at national and international level has increased in recent years. It will be our endeavour to not only build upon the achievements of the Commission over the past eight years, but take it to the next level, so as to increase the global market share of these products, Hon’ble Chairman said.

Chairman, KVIC further said that the Khadi and Village Industries Commission has strengthened the Khadi and Village Industries sector by focusing on economic development and KVIC will continue to focus on this in future also. KVIC is a multidisciplinary organization where various schemes are being implemented for the upliftment of all sections along with the person standing in the last line of the society.

Later, Various Cultural Programme like Orchestra, Puppet Show, Storytelling on Spinning Yarn and  Kavi Sammelan at Central Office Mumbai were also organised.

On 75th year of Independence “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” ensuring public consciousness and public participation with the simplicity of Khadi, KVIC organized “Tiranga Yatra” from Church Gate Station to Marine Drive, in which thousands of Khadi Artisans, Khadi workers besides KVIC employees and officials participated. Earlier, “Tiranga Yatra” have been organized by all the regional offices of KVIC across the country from August 11.

On the call of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, who is arguably brand ambassador of Khadi, promoting Khadi on global platforms, Khadi’s credibility has increased internationally, with the increasing demand for India’s indigenous products across the world, Khadi which has already gone from “Local to Global” has now become synonymous with self-reliance. Khadi and Village Industries Commission which not only works to promote Khadi but is also promoting village industries products to strengthen the rural economy.

Under the guidance of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Khadi India has achieved extraordinary target by creating 167.60 lakh jobs during the financial year 2021- 2022. Maintaining the remarkable growth momentum in the last 7 years, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission has achieved a sales of Rs. 115415.22 crore in the year 2021-22, and the sale of Khadi have increased by 188 percent in the last 7 years, which is a record in itself.
