Mumbai: Central Bank of India Ride on Kamran Ansari’s goals to overcome Bank of Baroda. Central Bank of India rallied to down Bank of Baroda by 4 goals to 2 in the prestigious bankers’ derby match in the Elite Division Corporate Football league match played at the Neville Dsouza ground at Bandra Mumbai under the banner of The Mumbai Football Association.
In the exciting and evenly contested bankers, the derby match played between CBOI and BOB, consisting of young players playing their hearts out performed extremely well throughout the game. Young players of BOB combined very well and with better understanding to overcome the young and energetic players of CBOI from the start of the game. BOB got an early goal lead in the game within 5 minutes of the play by an opportunist goal scored by Denzil Mascarenhas, today unlike the other matches CBOI players could get into the rhythm of the play and was struggling to understand and combine with each other, but in the meanwhile, BOB players were creating chances and once again Denzil Mascarenhas scored his second goal to make the score line 2 -0 at the lemon break.
In the second half of the game, fit and energetic players of CBOI started regaining their rhythm and created scoring opportunities but they were very much unlucky not to find the net. BOB players also created openings for scoring goals but the goalkeeper and the defenders of CBOI blocked all their efforts. BOB withheld to their 2 goals lead upto the 78th minute of the game. Hardworking players of CBOI were putting pressure on the BOB defense and the goalkeeper , they succeeded in reducing the margin in the 80th minute to make the score line 2 -1 , there after CBOI players did not look back and scored 3 more goals in the last 10 minutes of the game to seal the victory by 4 goals to 2. The highlight of the game and the hero of the match for CBOI was star striker Kamran Ansari who scored all the 4 goals including a hatrick with the support of other players to win the match against BOB by 4 goals to 2.
CBOI has played 8 matches out of which they have won 6, drew 1 and lost 1.They have gained 19 points in the Elite Division Corporate football league Tournament.
